To make online payment of Motor Vehicle Excise Bills, you MUST enter the Last name AND the Plate (Registration) number of the vehicle you need to pay.

Under MGL Chapter 60A, all Massachusetts residents who own and register a motor vehicle must annually pay a Motor Vehicle Excise. Also, under MGL Chapter 59, Section 2, it is important to note that every Motor Vehicle, whether registered or not, is subject to taxation, either excise or personal property, for the privilege of road use, whether actual or future.
If your vehicle is registered January 1st, of the given year, and excise bill will be issued for the full year in February. You have thirty (30) days to pay without incurring fees. After that time, interest accrues at 12% and a demand fee of twenty- five dollars ($25.00) may be applied. You have fourteen (14) days to pay after the demand is issued. After the fourteen (14) days, it may go into collection with Kelley and Ryan.
If you register your vehicle after January 1st of the given year, you will be issued an excise bill within two (2) months from the City.

Vehicles are assessed $25.00 (twenty-five dollars) per thousand according to the DMV valuation.
If you no longer own a vehicle, you may apply for an abatement with the Assessors Office.

Overpayments on Motor Vehicle Excise bills will be issued a refund from the Tax Collectors Office within 4-6 weeks. During Tax collection time, the refund may take longer.
