In 1996, five agencies and organizations with state-wide interest in wetlands worked together to produce a series of articles intended to provide a more coordinated approach to wetlands education in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the Massachusetts Audubon Society, and the UMASS Extension met for over a year to assess educational needs and resources, identify priority issues, and coordinate activities. One result of these discussions was an agreement to focus on wetlands functions and values as an educational theme for 1996. This commitment produced the following articles. One of which was written with the assistance of another agency, the United States Army Corps of Engineers. These articles are still relevant today. (Note: some minor editing was allowed and has occurred to localize some articles)
